The City of Fort Wayne Greenways & Trails Department, along with Fort Wayne Trails Inc., is once again sponsoring the popular community bike rides, Trek the Trails.
As the popular free guided community bike rides, Trek the Trails, enter their seventh year, riders are focusing on the 100,000 mile mark. In the first six years of the rides, participants have collectively biked 75,723 miles.
On Tuesday May 10, 2016, the kick-off party at Salomon Farm Park will start the season of more than 25 rides and walks. Weekly rides occur through Sept. 27 at 6pm on Tuesday. Some Saturday dates will feature longer rides and walks. Adults should accompany children and all riders are encouraged to wear helmets.
Mayor Tom Henry started the rides as a way for residents to explore parts of the trail that they may not be familiar with and to create social opportunities for families and friends to venture in a guided tour. The free, guided bike rides have attracted nearly 8,000 riders, since it started in 2010 -- with 1,647 participating last year.
Trek the Trails will take bicyclists through all parts of the community – along the Rivergreenway, the Wabash & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, the Aboite Trails, and to New Haven’s Moser Park. Click to see schedule of rides
