The City of Fort Wayne is evaluating new LED street lights and would like your opinion. The evaluation site for this LED test is in Johnny Appleseed Park, just north of the boat ramp on the west side of Harry Baals Drive. There is a sign mounted on the light pole to identify the test.
The new street lights are expected to use 60% less energy consumption, which would save taxpayers future electrical charges for our Street Lighting assets. These new LED's are expected to last 7 times longer than standard lighting bulbs..
The city finished a project in late 2005 in which we changed all of our incandescent bulbs in Traffic Signals to LED's. This project saves taxpayers $145,000 annually in energy consumption.
Please visit the new streetlight at Johnny Appleseed, then click here to tell us what you think.
