September 13, 2024 - The Fort Wayne Police Department on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024, held a graduation ceremony for the department's 68th basic recruit class. Eighteen recruits were part of the special ceremony. The newest graduates include 2 African American males, 2 Hispanic/Latino males, and 14 White/Caucausian males. Mayor Sharon Tucker was one of the guest speakers at the event.
Over the next six months, the new officers will complete their next phase of training with a Field Training Officer.
