September 13, 2024 - The City of Fort Wayne's Community Development Department of Neighborhoods hosted its second annual Inspire Neighborhoods Conference today at Electric Works, followed by an awards dinner inside Chapman's Brewing Co.
The conference highlighted keynote speaker DeAmon Harges, instructor at the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) Institute, founder of The Learning Tree, and Grassroots Grantmakers Association board member. Attendees explored the power of authentic relationships, the importance of being a good neighbor by recognizing everyone's unique potential, and strategies for building on the community's strengths.
Another featured speaker was Janell M. Lane, LMHC, co-founder of Courageous Living, LLC. Her message, "Mental Health: Energizing You While Energizing Others," focused on how community leaders can sustain their energy while supporting others. Her session provided practical insights for attendees to enhance their well-being and impact the community.
The event aimed to motivate and empower residents and leaders in Fort Wayne's neighborhoods. In addition to listening to Harges and Lane, participants engaged in an awards banquet for neighborhood association leaders, attended breakout sessions featuring local speakers, and explored informational booths.
