expired medicationProper disposal of unused prescription and over-the-counter medicines is essential for preventing pollution and keeping these drugs out of the environment.  Proper disposal also prevents illegal use or theft and helps avoid accidental poisoning if children or pets swallow medicines that have been put int he trash.

City Utilities also works with TRIAD -- a local group of healthcare, law enforcement and other volunteers -- who conduct unwanted medication collection events in Allen County two times each year.
