Celebrating General “Mad” Anthony Wayne Day

The Anthony Wayne Organization, Inc. of Fort Wayne is celebrating General “Mad” Anthony Wayne’s leadership during the Revolutionary War and the 245th anniversary of his victory at the battle of Stony Point, NY, July 16, 1779.  Following a noon ceremony at the Statue of General Anthony Wayne in Freimann Square, at which Greg Shipley, archeologist and historian, will be presented with a “Legion of the United States” Award, the public is invited to the Swinney Homestead.  At 1:30, Shipley will present a program and share his array of artifacts found at the archeological digs of the Forts of General Wayne during the Revolutionary War and discus their relevance to Fort Wayne area history.  There is no fee or registration necessary for this event; however, seating is limited to 50 people.
