National recognition continues to pour in for Fort Wayne.
Population figures released by the U.S. Census Bureau show growth for Fort Wayne. Having the largest jump in population in the Midwest sends a strong message that our community is a great place to live, work, and play.
We intend to build upon our current quality of life amenities and provide individuals, families, and businesses with even more reasons to invest resources in Fort Wayne. It’s critical that we keep moving forward with new economic development opportunities, more jobs with excellent wages, and an unwavering commitment to neighborhoods and downtown revitalization.
Here are some areas where Fort Wayne is doing well and helping us make gains in population:
-Overall quality of life
-Riverfront development
-Investments in downtown and in neighborhoods
-Investments in infrastructure – water/sewer/stormwater/streets/roads/sidewalks/alleys/bridges/trails - $100+ million in City Utilities work in 2024 and nearly $50 million in Public Works projects this year – one of the key areas that employers look at
-Belief in ourselves as a community
-Public-private partnerships
-Success of large, medium, and small businesses

The WalletHub report examined nearly 150 of the largest cities in the U.S. Wallet Hub looked at the areas of financial stability, education, health, safety, the economy, infrastructure and pollution.
This is a tremendous accomplishment to again receive national recognition. We’re committed to providing an enhanced quality of life for all residents in Fort Wayne.
