Mayor Graham Richard's "Money in Your Pocket" campaign will host a Super Saturday event from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, March 25 at the Wayne Township Trustee's Office, 320 E. Superior St.

To date, nearly $950,000 in tax refunds have been received by eligible, working families through the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) program. The EITC program assists lower income working families apply for tax refunds.

The program does have eligibility requirements:
-Families with one child who earn less than $31,030
-Families with two or more children who earn less than $35,263
-Single workers without a child who earn less than $11,750
-Married couples with no children who earn less than $13,750

Eligible residents are encouraged to use the free tax preparation services and receive a tax refund that they earned over the past year. In 2005, $1.6 million in tax refunds was received by working families. There has been an increase in participation and refunds each year since the program started in 2003. In 2003, $250,000 was returned to the local economy. In 2004, the total was just over $1 million.
