October 26, 2018 - Mayor Tom Henry and a delegation from Fort Wayne will travel to Fort Wayne’s sister city Taizhou, China on Saturday, October 27, with plans to return on November 2.
The focus of the Mayor’s trip will be to discuss the enhancement of cultural and educational exchange programs, including opportunities for professionals from Fort Wayne and Taizhou to connect and participate in a professional exchange program.
Mayor Henry will also attend special events in Taizhou and give a speech about recent Fort Wayne successes.
The Fort Wayne Ballet will join Mayor Henry on the trip and will perform in Taizhou. In 2017, the Taizhou Luantan Opera traveled to Fort Wayne and performed at the Arts United Performing Arts Center.
Taizhou and Fort Wayne have been sister cities since 2012, and was the fourth city to be adopted. The City of Fort Wayne also has sister city partnerships with Gera, Germany; Takaoka, Japan; and Plock, Poland. The mission of Fort Wayne Sister Cities International is: “Globally advancing friendship and peace through educational, cultural and economic exchanges.”
