In an effort to assist individuals who have been relocated to Fort Wayne as a result of Hurricane Katrina, a One Stop Relief and Relocation Center event has been established. The event will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, September 29 at the City-County Building, One East Main St.

Representatives will be available to discuss:

* Private and public housing
* Emergency prescription medication
* Employment opportunities
* Documentation and legal issues
* Food stamps
* Education
* Financial assistance
* Transportation
* First Friends (faith-based organization that can assist with bedding, household needs, private counseling, and other miscellaneous needs).

Individuals must provide proof of registration from the American Red Cross.

Anyone needing transportation to the event should contact First Friends at 447-3578. Ask for Bertha or Becky.

Leaders from the City of Fort Wayne, Allen County, American Red Cross, United Way of Allen County, Salvation Army, YWCA, churches, schools, and social service agencies have been working together for the past several weeks to help victims of Hurricane Katrina.
