Mayor Graham Richard has selected Mark Becker to serve as Deputy Mayor.

“Mark'€™s leadership and experience in government and business is excellent preparation for serving as deputy mayor,” said Mayor Richard. “Mark is well respected in the community and will help us achieve our goals of gaining and retaining jobs, being the safest city of our size and building excellent services through teams. Mark'€™s ability to build consensus has resulted in a clear vision for downtown revitalization and tremendous positive investments at Southtown Centre.”

Becker has served as the City'€™s Director of the Division of Community Development since 2001. Becker served as the City'€™s Director of Economic Development from 1987-1990.

Becker was Executive Vice President of Strategic Development for the Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce in Greenville, South Carolina from 1996-2001. He served as Vice President of Business Development for the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce from 1994-1996. Becker was the Community Development Manager for NIPSCO from 1990-1994.

Becker serves on the board of directors for the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance, Northeast Indiana Workforce Investment Board, Fort Wayne Urban Enterprise Zone, Fort Wayne-Allen County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Downtown Improvement District.

Becker earned a bachelor'€™s degree in urban planning from the University of Cincinnati.
