January 15, 2021 - Mayor Tom Henry presented Adrienne Maurer with the 2020 Trail Volunteer of the Year Award on Thursday. The award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated strong leadership and made exemplary and significant contributions in volunteer time to planning, construction, maintenance, promotion and/or fundraising for the City of Fort Wayne’s trails and greenways network. 

January 15, 2021 - The City of Fort Wayne's Community Development Division today announced Jonathan Leist as its new Deputy Director of Redevelopment. He will begin his duties on February 2nd.

Leist brings more than 17 years of professional experience to the new position. He served as the Solid Waste District Director of Huntington County, Indiana from 2003 to 2015 and the Town Manager of Culver, Indiana from 2015 to 2021. 

January 13, 2021 - Residents continue to utilize the community’s trails system. Trail counts reached an all-time high in 2020 with 663,426. It’s a 17 percent increase from the previous high count in 2016 and a 45 percent increase from 2019.

The data comes from 14 infrared trail counters that track usage. This year, the City will have six additional infrared trail counters. 

January 15, 2021 - For the 18th year in a row, the City Utilities' Water Pollution Control Plant received the Indiana Water Environmental Association (IWEA) Award for Laboratory Excellence. 

The award recognizes the plant lab's quality management and the collection and management of the essential testing data required to meet National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit regulations and monitor the sewage treatment process to operate at the best and highest standards at the sewage treatment plant.   Team members include analytical chemists Pat Kohn, Andy Riley and Spencer Roscow.
