March 15, 2021 - The City of Fort Wayne’s Public Works Division is partnering with the Fort Wayne Public Art Commission to select a sculptural artist to install public art at the center of the Five Points intersection at Goshen Avenue and Sherman Boulevard.

This is a gateway piece which will complement the City’s recently completed Phase I of the Goshen Avenue reconstruction and modernization project. The work included a conversion of the Five Points intersection, landscaping, improved drainage, new street lights and signalized intersection improvements, and the repair of existing sidewalks and curb ramps. New sidewalks were added in areas that were not previously connected. The first phase of the project was completed in October 2020. 

March 10, 2021 - The Great American Cleanup is the nation’s largest community improvement program that Fort Wayne has participated in for nearly 30 years. It’s a time when we can show our community pride by lending a hand to clean up littered roadsides, parks, trails and river ways. A clean city makes a difference. With the help of volunteers, Fort Wayne can come together and show how much we care about our community’s neighborhoods and public spaces.

Volunteers are invited to join this year’s Great American Cleanup the morning of Saturday, May 1, 2021. Since cleanup efforts take place outside, and it’s easy to stay at least six feet apart, this is a great way to see family, friends, co-workers, classmates, neighborhood associations, faith-based organizations or any other group you can encourage to come out to help. Although it takes only a few hours to clean, it makes a huge difference when a lot of people participate. 

March 12, 2021 - Foster, Shoaff and McMillen Park Golf Courses will open for the season during the week of March 15, depending on weather and course conditions.

City golf course daily open times will be based on daylight and weather conditions. When inclement weather occurs, courses may close for a short period, or for the day, depending upon the severity of the weather. Golfers are asked to call ahead to confirm course availability and to reserve tee times: 

March 9, 2021 - Beginning March 29, the City of Fort Wayne Street Department will begin collecting biodegradable paper leaf/lawn/garden bags placed by the curb. Residents are asked to call 311 after they have filled and placed the bags at the curb. The bags will then be collected within two business days. Biodegradable bags placed in alleys will not be collected. The collection period will run through April 9. These dates may be subject to change due to weather.
