  •   » Coldwater Road Improvements - Dupont to Union Chapel
    • The project is planned to be constructed in two phases and bid through the Board of Public Works with construction in 2023/24 and 2025/26.
     
  •   » Goshen Road - Cambridge to W. Coliseum (Ph. II & III)
    • DLZ is completing the design for the next phases of corridor improvements along Goshen Road.
    • The project will pick up near Gateway Plaza at Cambridge Blvd and will end at W. Coliseum Boulevard.
    • The project consists of road reconstruction, additional driving lanes, pedestrian facilities, adding green infrastructure and landscaping within the corridor.
    • The realignment of the Butler and Harris intersection will also be a major improvement that is a part of this project.
    • This project will be split into two phases, with the first phase anticipated to be bid through the Board of Public Works at the end of 2024 and construction in 2025.

    » Leesburg Road Extension 
    • American Structurepoint is completing the design of a new roundabout at the intersection of Leesburg Road and Main Street.
    • Leesburg Road will be extended to the south, down to Jefferson Boulevard with a new signalized T- intersection next to the SweetCars dealership.
    • The new road will be a combination of both 2-lane and 3-lane sections. The project will include new sidewalks, street lighting, storm sewers and detention along with a new small structure crossing the Junk Ditch.
    • The project addresses intersection safety issues for both Main St. and Jefferson Blvd.
    • A public meeting was held on June 30, 2022, and another meeting is anticipated to be held before design is completed.

    » Ludwig Road Relocation 
    • This project involves the relocation of Ludwig Road between Oakbrook Parkway and Coldwater Road.
    • The project will include a new roundabout at the intersection of Oakbrook Parkway and Ludwig Road with a new signalized intersection at Coldwater Rd and the new section of roadway.
    • The new road is a 2-lane section except where turn lanes are required.
    • The roadway improvements will be a conventional street but with curb and gutters, new storm sewer system with a detention basin, sidewalk and trail infrastructure, green infrastructure, and street lighting.
    • The project addresses intersection safety issues for Ludwig Road and Coldwater Road.
    • This project is currently in construction with Milestone as the prime contractor. 

    • This project is estimated to be completed in June 2023.

    » Hillegas Road Widening - State to W. Coliseum Blvd.
    • GAI Consultants is completing the design of additional travel lanes on Hillegas Road between W. State Boulevard and W. Coliseum Boulevard.
    • This project will include sidewalk and a multi-use path within the corridor that meet ADA compliance, urban street design with curb and gutter, drainage improvements with new storm sewers, green infrastructure, street lighting and urban landscaping.

  • » Bluffton Road Bridge over St. Mary's River
    • USI Consultants is completing the bridge superstructure design for the Bluffton Road Bridge over the St. Mary’s River. 
    • The project will remove the current load postings for the bridge, rehabilitate the bridge to lengthen its life span, widen sidewalks on the bridge for accessibility to the Rivergreenway and Foster Park and improve scour protection.  
    • This is a federal project with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) that has cost sharing of 80/20 with the City of Fort Wayne.
    • A public meeting was held on 02/09/2022 and another meeting is anticipated to be held before design is completed.
    • Bluffton Road Bridge Project will be let through INDOT, and construction is estimated to begin in the fall of 2024 or spring of 2025.

    • The project will remove the current load postings for the bridge, rehabilitate the bridge to lengthen its life span, widen sidewalks on the bridge for pedestrians, and to improve scour protection.

City of Fort Wayne Traffic Engineering is responsible for the review of access control for new development projects in the city. Access Standards have been established to assist with review to address traffic flow, safety, accessibility and impact to public roadways.

Additional to access standards, the Traffic Engineering Department may request Traffic Impact Studies to assist with design considerations for new accesses or projects.
